(0523). No. 9. Madrid. The highest Spanish Military Council was in session, it was announced on Friday. The session took place with Spanish Army Minister General Varela in the chair. The session had begun already on Wednesday and continued its deliberations on Thursday and Friday. High Commissioner for Morocco, General Luis Organz, the Chief of the first Madrid Military region, General Saliquet, and the Chief of the fourth Catalan region, General Kindelan, the Chief of the second Andalusian region, General Ponto, and the Chief of the General Staff of the Army, General Davila, participated. The strictest silence was maintained about the discussions of these high military functionaries. The themes discussed at the session were said to have been of extreme importance and it was believed that they were not purely military but had a political background as well. The official announcement merely admitted the fact that the session took place without details.
Fire at Oguni in N. Japan.
(0530). No. 10. Tokyo. The village of Oguni situated in Northern Japan was visited by a conflagration on Friday which resulted in the destruction of more than 400 houses. It was feared that the number of dead and injured would prove to be considerable but no figures were available so far.

Gas Restrictions in Lisbon Foreseen.

Lisbon. Early restriction in gas supply of the city of Lisbon was predicted by the Portuguese evening paper "Republica" on Friday. Gas works would be compelled to follow the example of electricity plant which saw itself compelled to reduce the supply of electric current to the Portuguese capital by 25%. The public shall be prepared to accept new restrictions, stated the newspaper.
